A lot has changed since the beginning of the computer age. Punch cards were replaced by Floppy disks, Floppy disks again by hard disks (HDD). And those again by SDD and USB flash drives. But all these things are merely material. The trick of computers is mainly in the programmes. And those are very often not modernised. Cobol, Assembler, Databus, Fortran: all excellent languages, but the new batch of programmers is no longer able to maintain software written in such languages.
